Overseas Contingency Operations: Reported Obligations for the Department of Defense

As mandated by Congress, the GAO must produce a quarterly report analyzing the U.S. Defense Department’s monthly cost-of-war statements. This July 2009 report maintains that data being used by the Defense Department is of “questionable reliability,” and makes recommendations to the Secretary of Defense intended to “improve transparency and reliability.”
