Pentagon officials are hoping to meet a looming threat to America's
future global dominance -- not to mention national security -- by
boosting capacity in elementary school classrooms across the nation.

suggest that the Arctic Circle will experience ice-free summers by 2030. Until
now, the United States has largely avoided the frantic race for control
of northern waters. But with the pace of the thaw exceeding
expectations, the Navy has launched a strategic plan to maximize the U.S. stake in the region.

Yet an impersonal war is still a deadly one, and with more troops living to recover from injury and relive the battle, their bodies and minds will inevitably bear trauma. Inevitably, that is, for now.
